About AMC: American Motors Corporation was created in 1954 from the merger of Hudson Motors and Nash-Kelvinator. During its 34 years of existence, it produced a series of distinctive and popular vehicles including: Ambassador, AMX, Concord, Eagle, Gremlin, Hornet, Javelin, Marlin, Matador, Metropolitan, Pacer, Rambler, Rebel, Sprit and many more. In 1970 AMC purchased Kaiser Jeep to complement their existing passenger car business. Chrysler purchased AMC in 1987 and the brand was would be discontinued in the US. Chrysler corporation created the Jeep/Eagle division from the remains of AMC after the 1987 buyout. While the Eagle band was discontinued in 1997, the Jeep brand still lives on today!
